Download Program and Form
Updates
From time to time you may need to
download a new document, update an existing document, or download
program revisions. All of these can be accomplished through the use
of the the software's Internet update capabilities. Friday Systems,
Inc. recommends that you use the Internet update features at least
once a week to check for program updates.
Warning: Before you download any new programs or
forms, you must be sure that all other instances of the software
are shut down on all computers! You can only do the download on
a computer that has direct Internet access through a dial up
account, DSL, or cable modem connection. Currently, the software
does not support proxy connections.
To use the Internet update feature, you should first make sure
your computer has an active Internet connection. If you have a
dial-up account like America Online or MSN, start
that program now and establish your Internet connection. If you
have a continuous Internet connection via a cable modem or DSL
router, you shouldn’t need to do anything.
Note: You may need to check your firewall software
and allow an exception for the program to go through your firewall.
Otherwise, your firewall software will keep the program from being
able to access Friday Systems, Inc.'s servers and getting the
necessary forms and updates!
After you have established your connection, click
Utilities in the menu bar and select Download
Updates/Registration Key from the drop-down menu.

The software will display the Internet Downloads window.
To connect to Friday Systems, Inc.'s server, click the red
Connect button at the top of the window. This will establish
a connection with Friday Systems, Inc. The process can take
anywhere from a few seconds to 2 minutes, depending upon the speed
of your Internet connection.

Once you have a connection to the Friday Systems, Inc. server,
the software will update the Available Downloads list on the
left-hand side of the window. This list displays all updates
available for you to download. The right-hand side of the window
contains the Selected Downloads list. This list displays
forms and updates you have elected to download. If you have an
older version of a form in your software but Friday Systems, Inc.
has recently published a new version of that form, your software
will recognize this and automatically list this updated form in
your Selected Downloads list.
Click to highlight and select each update you wish to download
in the Available Downloads list and click the Add to
Download List button. Each update will be added to the
Selected Downloads list.
As an analogy, think of the Available Downloads list as
an online store and the Selected Downloads list as an online
shopping cart.
If you accidentally add an update to or wish to remove an update
from the Selected Downloads list, click to highlight and
select the update and click the Delete From Download List
button. This will remove the update, and the software will not
download it onto your system. You may, however, reconnect at a
later time and download the update if you choose to do so.

Once you have selected all of the updates you wish to download,
click the Download button. The software will automatically
install all updates for you. Download times will vary depending on
the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the program
you are downloading. Please be patient! Most programs and
forms will only take a few minutes each to download; however, some
files such as the Help file are over 2 megabytes in size. On a slow
(dial-up) Internet connection, this file could take up to 1/2 hour
to download.
Once all downloads are completed, the software will ask if you
want to make a backup copy of
your database. Click Yes to create the backup file or
click No to decline.
You and anyone else on your local network may now resume working
with the software.
