Document Alignment
The Document Alignment
Settings window will allow you to adjust how a form is printed
from the software. From this window, you may change the horizontal
alignment (left or right) as well as the vertical alignment.

Adjusting Your Printer's
Starting Alignment
The Align at option will allow you to align your form
from the top edge of the form or from a specific point within the
form.
Note: setting the form to print from the top edge
of the form does not instruct your printer to "back up" the
paper. The software will start printing from wherever your printer
is currently set. The software assumes that you have adjusted the
form feed of your printer to stop feeding paper as soon as the top
edge is aligned at the bottom of the print head or that you have
manually adjusted the paper to be aligned at the bottom of the
print head. If you are unfamiliar with how to adjust your form feed
settings, refer to your printer's manual.
To set the form alignment to begin printing from the top edge of
the form, click and select the radio button marked Top
Edge.
To set the form alignment to a specific spot on the form, click
and select the radio button marked Align On. This will also
activate the text box below the radio button to allow you to enter
the location/prompt on the form; however, it is recommended that
you leave this setting as-is.
Adjusting Your Printer's
Horizontal Alignment
Sometimes the printing will be aligned too far to the right or
to the left. If aligned too far to the right, the characters
printed may "fall off" the right hand edge of the paper and wrap
around to a new line on the left of the paper. This creates an
unexpected new line to be inserted into the printing, and
everything from that point forward will be pushed down an extra
line.
To adjust the printing left or right, drag the Horizontal
Adjustment pointer. You will notice that the pointer moves is
discrete "jumps". Each "jump" is approximately one character. For
example, if two characters are "falling off" the right hand side of
the paper and wrapping around to start a new line, you will need to
pull the printing to the left two characters. Drag the
Horizontal Adjustment pointer to the left two "jumps" to
correct the problem.
Adjusting Your Printer's
Vertical Alignment
If you have opted to set the alignment of your form as the top
edge using the radio buttons, the software will activate and
display a Vertical Adjustment pointer. To adjust the
printing up or down, drag the Vertical Adjustment pointer.
This sets the distance the paper will feed through the printer
before the actual printing begins. The pointer will move in
discrete "jumps" much like the Horizontal Adjustment pointer
described above.
For example, if you are aligning from the top edge of your paper
and the first line to be printed is one inch down the page, then
your Vertical Adjustment should be set to approximately one
inch. When you align your paper at the top edge, the printer will
first feed the paper through the printer one inch and then print
its first line of characters.
Adjusting Your Printer's
Vertical/Line Feed Drift
Occasionally, a printer will begin printing fine, but as the
printing moves down the form, the lines of print seem to space
farther and farther apart. This is known as printer line feed
drift. To correct for line feed drift, drag the Line Feed
Drift pointer. As you drag the pointer, the small, mock display
of your document next to the pointer will grow and shrink
accordingly.
