To begin the backup process, click on the Utilities menu at the top of the screen. Select the option labeled Backup Database in the pull-down menu that appears. The software will display a window asking you to specify a location for the backup file. The software will, by default, suggest the backup path and filename. The default path is the same as the path for the executable program. The filename, by default, is the date the backup is made in the format of mmddyyyy.zip where mm is the two-digit representation of the month, dd is the two-digit representation of the day, and yyyy is the four-digit representation of the year.
You may erase the path and filename to enter a different path and filename. You may also click on the Browse button to open a window where you can find a folder and specify a filename.
If you wish to include your vehicles' pictures in the backup file, check the Include pictures in backup file checkbox.
Note: including picture files will greatly increase the file size of your backup file. While this is not necessarily bad, files will a lot of pictures will not fit on smaller media such as floppy disks. However, this is rarely a problem with the advent of newer media such as CD's and keychain flash drives.

Once you have entered a path and filename for your backup file, click the OK button create the backup file. The software will gather up all necessary files and put them all into a compressed .zip archive file.
